Hannah Lasky

I was born in St. Louis Missouri, on 2/17/54, to an artistic family, and I focused on art all throughout my high school years. After graduating I studied art and music at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, then on to Lone Mountain College in San Francisco where I continued my studies in the arts.

I moved to New York City working in the interior design center and ran trade showrooms for major manufacturers working directly with interior designers and architects. I established my own firm, DHL Designs, and represented architects and fine artists such as Lawrence Gartel. During this period I also attended classes at Parsons School of Design and the New York School of Interior Design.

In 1983 I followed a calling and attended Robert Fiance Cosmetology School in NYC and got my full license, knowing how much I always loved this field. I began working in Manhattan at “Pipino Buccheri” next to the St. Regis Hotel. After my apprenticeship I became a Hair Colorist, still always loving the other areas like cutting, styling, etc

In 1987 I moved to Miami Beach and fell into the start of a growing SOBE, the beginning of a new era. After working at a few local salons I finally opened Hannah & Her Scissors in 1989 on Ocean Drive in the basement of the Leslie Hotel. My concept was to be a Hair Art Studio, to keep my fingers in the art world. My first show was with Craig Coleman, a very talented early South Beach artist. In 1993 I enlarged my growing business and moved it to Lincoln Road. I continued having art shows for other local artists and fund raisers for all kinds of charitable and cultural events.

In 1996 I realized that my own personal desire to create my own canvases was strongly beckoning me and I began to paint very diligently, starting by creating a wall of portraits and scenes of our beloved SOBE, Miami Beach. Colorful and full of light! My salon on Lincoln Road became my own art gallery and I quickly filled it up with all kinds of images. My Hanapoo products and I have been written about in magazines such as Vogue, Glamour, Allure, Mademoiselle, Self, Redbook and many more.

In 1998 I relocated my Hair & Art Studio to Arthur Godfrey Road in Miami Beach and stayed there until 2004. Thanks to my loyal following after so many years I am able to work by appointment only at a salon called PRIMAL at 73rd and Biscayne Boulevard in Miami. I currently display my paintings there and at the Boulevard Bistro at 71st and Biscayne Boulevard. I now have more time to focus on my art and other important projects. I have just created a new poetry and art book which is now available upon request.

I have donated my paintings and hair services since I have lived here to many good causes:
